Texas Wildscapes Schoolyard Habitat
Demonstration Site

The Temple College campus finally became a certified Texas Wildscape on September 24, 2003 when Mark Klym, Coordinator of Texas Wildscapes, presented Dr. Anne Penney Newton, Vice Chair of the Temple College Board of Trustees, and Reid Lewis, Temple College Horticulturist, with the official sign. The Landscape Committee, Maintainance/Grounds Staff and Volunteers had been planning and working for almost seven years to accomplish this goal. Since that day, a second water source has been added in front of the Math/BioMedical Building and many more plantings attractive to wildlife have been included in the landscape.

If you are interested in creating a Wildscape, a large area is not necessary. Go to the Texas Wildscape Link and see how to transform your backyard.
